Socorro Islands: How To Get To Cabo San Lucas
From November through June the SOLMAR V departs from the marina in downtown Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to the amazing Socorro Islands. Due to increased airline service, it is now very easy to get to the SOLMAR V from anywhere in the world. There are numerous direct flights from many major U.S. cities. For our guests traveling from overseas, you may choose to fly through the United States or if you'd like Mexico City. The international airport for our area is San Jose del Cabo. When searching online for availability and routes on airline or agency websites, use the airline code SJD.
Here are some of the gateway cities and airlines that fly directly into our airport:
- Alaska Airlines: from Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Portland.
- United Airlines: from Los Angeles, Houston and Newark
- American Airlines: from Los Angeles, Dallas and Chicago
- Delta Airlines: from Atlanta
- U.S. Airways: This group of airlines has multiple carriers from many cities into SJD
- Aero Mexico: from Ontario (California), San Diego and Mexico City
This is a very partial list of possible airlines. Airline routes change frequently, so we encourage you to check major agency websites such as Expedia and Travelocity to find which airlines fly into SJD from your area. Then you can either book with the agency or go to the individual airline websites to check for best pricing and availability.
When booking your flight REMEMBER that if you fly in the same day the boat leaves port you MUST land by 1 pm at the latest to give yourself time to get to the boat or better to come in one day early. Due to the distance the boat must travel, we cannot delay boat departure for any flight delays or lost luggage situations. We strongly advise flying in one day early. Please call or email us for hotel suggestions and special pricing. On the return you can arrange your flight at anytime on the date of return shown on our schedule since the boat will arrive back to port one night prior to this date and you will overnight on the boat that evening. So, for instance, if your trip is Jan 4 - 12 you can book your return flight anytime out on Jan 12.
What To Do When You Arrive
Upon reservation confirmation, we will send you a pre-trip information sheet. This information is very important so if you do not receive it, please ask us for it. This document will describe arrival procedures and other good things to know. Basically, once you clear Mexican immigration and collect your bags from the luggage carousel, you will proceed through customs. After clearing customs, if you have arranged for your prepaid transportation through our office then just outside the terminal look for a representative of the transport company holding a sign which reads " Cabo Seasons". If you are handling your own transportation into Cabo San Lucas, then look for the Authorized Taxi Shuttle booth inside the terminal where you can purchase shuttle tickets to any hotel in Cabo San Lucas. It is about a 45 minute ride into Cabo San Lucas where the boat is docked. On the day of departure, we pick up from three hotels in Cabo San Lucas only. These are the Quinta Del Sol, Solmar Suites and Playa Grande Resort & Spa. A Solmar V Divemaster will arrive at these properties between 1 - 2 pm depending on the property. Our staff will then escort you to the boat about 5 minutes away to start check-in procedures onboard. The Solmar V departs port at approximately 4 PM, depending on the arrival of our passengers.
Hope to see you aboard soon!
