Trip N° 1 (August 1 st – 5 th) – Guadalupe Island
Pool is open and there are plenty of great white sharks for the sharks lovers!! This opening trip was terrific! We set the cages in the water and immediately the first great white came to check the surface cages. We went down with the submersible cage to the 3o ft / 9 m and watched 4 different sharks around us. A big male of no less of 10 ft / 3m in length with a twisted dorsal fin was circling around us while a couple of great whites were showing their interest in the bait and fighting our wranglers, taking them by surprise and sometimes running away with it.
The second day we had good action which increased more and more throughout the day. It was absolutely amazing to watch 3 great whites very close to the cages, constantly visiting the submersible cage and showing us their giant jaws and all their teeth! The males were intense, chasing the bait at the surface all the time.
The next morning the juveniles were very aggressive, swimming fast, trying to get the bait again and again. Meanwhile, at depth, the sharks were coming from every direction, swimming at the limit of the visibility and then coming back straight at the cage. We had many of them come very close. Great whites all around! In the afternoon we had at the 15 ft / 5 m a big female of 4 m/ 12 ft passing by. Then a pod of dolphins showed up close to the ship and after that the visibility began to decrease and then it was time to leave Guadalupe Island, sanctuary of the Great White Shark, and head back to Ensenada. It was a GREAT first trip of the season!
See you soon!!
