We arrived at Guadalupe Island around mid morning after a smooth crossing from Ensenada. Everybody was so excited to get in the water a small crowd was forming on the dive deck watching the guides prepare the cages. That first day we were welcomed by a couple of “smaller” Great Whites, 8-9ft who were very active close to the surface. The divers in the submersible cage had a close look at a large female of 13ft that spent a long time making circles beneath the boat.
On the second morning we had a relaxed start with a little bit of action until around 9:30 when at one point we counted 4 different sharks at the same time circling the surface cages. As the day progressed we had more arrivals, the same female from the first day, and also three brave Yellowfin Tuna that were darting through a ball of Sardines hiding beneath the Solmar V.
The last day was filled with many memorable moments both outside and inside the cages! The fun times the group was having onboard followed them to the cages and there were some unique videos shot that day. The young males were the highlight of the day with plenty of photo opportunities with mouths wide open breaching for the bait.
The return journey was smooth the whole way, with both Dolphins and Sperm Whales making an appearance to say a final farewell.
Another unforgettable trip on the Solmar V.
