Trip Report 14
From March 20 to March 30
This was an eleven days trip to the Revillagigedo’s Archipelago. In San Benedicto we
stayed for four days; the dive sites were El cañón, El Boiler and Pariente’s Rock, where
we had the opportunity to scuba dive with a few Pacific Giant Mantas and different
types of sharks like Galapagos, silkies, silver tips, black tips, tigers and hammerheads.
We saw schools of Yellowfin tuna, Skipjack tuna, and dolphins. Probably the highlight
of the trip was the pack of false killer whales that we saw the last day on the islands.
In Socorro we stayed for one day and the dive site was ”Cabo Pearce”. Here we did
three dives and we had dolphins for the first dive. A couple of mantas and sharks like
hammerheads, Galapagos and Silver tips were there too.
Roca Partida was our second destination for two days of diving. Here we saw a couple
of mantas, schools of hammerheads, lots of Galapagos sharks on the north side of the
rock and the white tips sharks were pretty active on the south side. On the second day
the best part was when we saw a juvenile whale shark almost at the end of the dive.
Lots and lots of Yellowfin tuna, Skipjack tuna, Yellowtail and Wahoo’s were swimming
around Roca too.
Unfortunately on this trip we didn’t see as many mantas as usual; hopefully next trip
we will see more and a better chance to interact with them.
Thanks to all our friends who joined us for this trip to Revillagigedo!
